Let me show you how to transform a doll house from Dollar Tree into a festive gingerbread house tabletop display! I do have a video tutorial showing how to make this at the bottom of the post.

First, I spray painted a plastic doll house from Dollar Tree a color I thought would be good for a gingerbread cookie. Then, I painted details on the house with white acrylic paint.
After the 1st layer of white paint was dry, I added a 2nd layer, sprinkling on clear iridescent glitter while it was still wet.

Next, I added 'frosting' by using lightweight spackling. Make sure you get the lightweight kind so it will hold its shape as it cures.

I scooped some of the spackling into a piping bag fitted with a small star tip, and piped it onto the roof to resemble icing. Sprinkle on glitter.

I then glued on Christmas buttons to make the house look more cookie like. Glue the house to a wooden plaque.

These bottlebrush Christmas trees were various heights, giving the project more dimension. I glued 4 across the back of the plaque.

To look like snow, I used a roll of Buffalo snow, and glued pieces of it to the wooden plaque. Leave a space for the candle to sit. Using popsicle sticks, I created a fence, and spray painted it red, then glued it down to base.

I place a battery powered tealight inside the house, behind each window. I placed a cookie-scented candle to the right of the house, and it's done! Please don't forget to check out the full tutorial on YouTube!
