About Me

My name is Amber, and I'm going to take a break from gardening, crafting, cooking, and writing to tell y'all a little bit about myself.

Employment: My nursing career allowed me to work in several psychiatric units in my earlier years, after which I progressed into the orthopaedic spine unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. I worked in nursing management at an alzheimer's facility and another psychiatric unit after my time at Presby. I currently ghostwrite for many medical websites, and am a Holistic Health expert for Self Growth. My articles are posted under some well-known names in the health/fitness/medical community.

Education:
With my mother having a strong Cherokee bloodline, I was always taught to use natural methods of healing that actually treat an illness at its source, rather than relying on man-made 'medicines' which simply mask the symptoms. Alternative forms of medicine, along with proper nutrition and ample amounts of exercise can go a long way in the holistic treatment of the human body.

After attending a lecture given by Darlene Two Trees (daughter of the late Chief Two Trees), I became even more interested in healing the body on a holistic level, which stoked my interest in creating my own remedies from herbs and natural ingredients.

After even further study under the guidance and direct supervision of Dr. Marijah McCain, I learned how to effectively create herbal blends to specifically target an individual's own unique medical needs. I also learned how to identify plants and herbs in the wild, as well as how to administer acupressure.

In 2007, I obtained my Holistic Stress Management Specialist certification, when I learned how to use feng shui and various other techniques to bring harmony and peace to an individual's surroundings.

I obtained a diploma in Fitness and Nutrition in 2008, where I learned the very basics of how proper nutrition and exercise can benefit the body on every level.

To further my fitness education, I studied under the guidance of AAU Mr. America competitor Greg Ladd, which allowed me to obtain a Sports Nutritionist and Personal Trainer certification in 2009.

In 2013, I decided my herbal background needed a boost, so I studied and obtained a diploma in aromatherapy.

Because proper nutrition isn't only important for adults, I completed secondary studies in Children's Nutrition through Stanford University in 2015.

I am currently working to finish my studies in crystal healing.

Hobbies: Ya know, I don't even know where to start on this one. I think I do a little bit of everything. I make jewelry, soap, any craft you can imagine, knit, crochet, needlepoint, embroider, sew, oil paint, draw, and garden. I think I am a little unconventional, in the fact I have been crafting since a very young age, and do almost everything.

My mother was an experienced seamstress and quilter, who taught me how to sew, quilt, and do various forms of needlepoint. She also instilled in me a love of ceramic painting. My grandmother taught me to crochet. Both worked as seamstresses on a commercial level at one point.

My crafts and even herbal remedies have been sold online and in retail shops for years. I thoroughly enjoyed my items being showcased in a prominent children's boutique in Boston.

I followed the Bob Ross teachings of painting style, and have loved oil painting since the age of 15/16.

I am currently 39 years old, and have been crafting since the age of 5.

I have won many ribbons for my sewing and crochet. In 2018 alone, I have won 24 1st Place ribbons, 5 second place, 5 third place, and 3 honorable mentions. Several of those 1st place ribbon were won at the North Carolina State Fair. I also took 3 Best In Shows. The first ribbon I won was at the age of 6, for sewing a blouse and skirt. I took 2nd place in the county.

As far as instruments, I play guitar, bass, piano, clarinet, saxophone, and the Irish feadog. Cooking and baking also rank highly on my hobby list. I love to restore old cars, and woodworking is also a favorite way to pass the time.

Thrift store shopping is a love of mine, as is hiking and gemstone hunting in the Blue Ridge mountains. Years ago, I obtained a certificate from the North Carolina School of Lapidary Arts after successfully completing the gemstone cutting course under the direction of Henry Hill.

When I'm worn out from doing all of that, I can usually be found running around Azeroth in World of Warcraft.
