Don’t you just love gel air fresheners? Easy to move from place to place in your home, no worrying if your cat is going to knock over a burning candle..... but, they can start to eat into your budget if you use a lot of them like I do. Below, I’m going to show you how to make your own easy DIY gel air fresheners with just a few simple ingredients. Enjoy!
**Video tutorial at the end of this post**
What you need:
3/4 cup liquid potpourri (this will be heated) 1/4 cup liquid potpourri (this will not be heated) 1 tablespoon any kind of salt (acts as a preservative) 2 small envelopes of Knox gelatine (if you want to make a vegan version, use 4 tablespoons of agar agar powder) a small glass jar
How to make it:
1: Pour 3/4 cup liquid potpourri into a saucepan. Add the salt. 2: Heat the potpourri/salt mixture over medium/high heat on a stovetop, stirring constantly, until the salt is dissolved. Remove from heat. 3: Sprinkle the Knox gelatine/agar agar over the liquid and stir until dissolved. 4: Add the 1/4 cup liquid potpourri, and stir. Pour into a glass container and let cool completely.
This gel air freshener will last roughly 30 days if you do not use a lid. It will dry up into a little hard blob on the bottom of the jar. Simply remove it and make a new batch! If you use a lid, make sure to punch holes in it so the fragrance can escape.
